You're picked up from your Jodhpur hotel, airport, or railway station around 2:30pm, then driven about an hour to Osian, a small desert town that sits at the edge of the Thar. First stop is Sachiya Mata Temple, built a thousand years ago—45 minutes to walk around, no guide, just you and the stone. The temple's quiet in the afternoon heat, and it sets the tone for what comes next.

Then you're on a camel for roughly an hour, moving through the actual desert. The animal knows the sand better than any jeep does, and the pace lets you notice things—the color of the dunes shifting as the light changes, the way the horizon stretches flat in every direction. If you've added the optional 40-minute four-wheel jeep safari when you booked, that comes after the camel ride, and it's faster, rougher, a different kind of thrill across the same terrain. You're back at your hotel in Jodhpur by evening. If your accommodation is in the Old City, pickup happens from the tour operator's office instead.
