The experience

The day starts with pickup from your Jodhpur hotel and a drive to the Thar Desert, where a 4x4 jeep takes over for the rough terrain. You'll ride across sand dunes (up and down the slopes) for the physical heart of the experience, then switch to camel for a slower, closer look at the landscape. The timing is built around the sunset: you reach a vantage point in the dunes as the light drops, then move to the camp where a fire is already burning.
