You make the dough from the start: no pre-made pastry waiting for you. The chef walks you through the technique of stretching the dough by hand until it is thin enough to see through, a skill that takes practice but works once you know the feel of it. You'll prepare two different fillings from options like apple, sweet farmer cheese with sour cherry, savoury cabbage, or poppy-seed with pumpkin, all drawn from the chef's family recipes passed down through generations. Everyone gets space to work hands-on. This is not a demonstration where you watch from a stool.
Between the stretching and the baking, you taste a Hungarian Farmer's Plate with local peppers, sausage, spicy cottage cheese cream and bread, paired with Hungarian wine and homemade soft drinks. The class takes place in a home-style kitchen studio in the centre of Budapest, not a basement room or commercial kitchen. At the end, you eat the strudels you've made while they're still warm, and you leave with the practical tips and recipes to recreate them at home.

Is this one for you?The class is hands-on from start to finish, so you'll spend the full 2.5 hours working with the dough and fillings rather than watching a chef cook. If you want to learn by doing and leave with a skill you can use at home, this suits you. If you prefer to observe and taste without the active work, a cooking demonstration would be different.
