Adventure activities in Roatan
- Zipline across 24 platforms
- Horseback ride through rainforest trails
- Visit animal sanctuary with monkeys and sloths
- Snorkel vibrant coral reefs
The experience
The ziplining comes first: you'll clip into harnesses and work your way across 16 lines strung between 24 platforms, moving through the canopy with views of the island spreading below. The course is the centerpiece, but the day doesn't stop there. After you're back on solid ground, you trade the harness for a saddle and head into the rainforest on horseback, moving at a pace that lets you take in the lush trails beneath the canopy.
The sanctuary park is where the wildlife happens. You'll get close to monkeys, sloths and exotic birds. The kind of encounter that makes the jungle feel less like scenery and more like a place where things actually live. A guide walks you through their behaviors and why the sanctuary matters. Then you head to the water. Snorkel gear is provided, and the reef is where you'll see the color: parrotfish, sea turtles, coral formations that took decades to build. The whole sequence (sky, ground, animals, water) covers most of what Roatan offers in a single morning.
Transport runs both ways from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle, so you're not managing logistics on top of managing adrenaline. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian or French, and the five-hour window is tight enough to fit a ship's port call but long enough that you're not rushing between stops.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 10 years); Infant (under 4): free.
How many ziplines do I actually zip on?
The course has 16 ziplines strung between 24 platforms, so you're moving across the canopy in stages rather than one long run. Each line gives you a different angle on the jungle and the island beyond it.
What's the horseback riding like for someone who's never ridden before?
The ride moves through rainforest trails at a pace suited to mixed experience levels. A guide leads the group, and the trails are designed to let you focus on the scenery rather than fighting the horse.
Will I actually see wildlife in the sanctuary, or is it just a small enclosure?
The sanctuary park holds monkeys, sloths and exotic birds that you encounter up close. A guide explains their behaviors and the conservation work the park does, so it's not just looking. It's learning why they're there.
Is snorkeling included, and do I need to bring my own gear?
Snorkeling is part of the day, and all gear is provided. You'll explore coral reefs with parrotfish, sea turtles and other reef life. No experience is required.
How long does the whole thing take, and will I be back in time for a ship departure?
The activity runs five hours total from hotel pickup to return, which fits a typical port call window. The timing is built around getting you back to your ship or hotel on schedule.
