Step-by-step itinerary
Horseback riding and beach relaxation
- Meet guide near Pirates Zipline
- Travel to Big Bight community
- Enjoy horseback riding with ocean views
- Relax at private beach and palapa
The experience
The ride starts near the Pirates of the Caribbean Zipline at Big Bight, where your guide leads you along paths through the community and across terrain that opens to ocean views. You'll move at a pace that lets you feel the horse's power (the operator mentions riding quickly to experience the adrenaline), and the route keeps you in contact with the island's landscape. Your guide speaks English or Spanish and points out native and migratory birds and the exotic animals that live on Roatan.
After the riding portion, you head to the operator's private beach center, which sits on the north shore with views across the water. The palapa gives you shade, and you have access to restrooms, beach facilities and a restaurant where you can order lunch, drinks or beer at additional cost. The ocean view from this spot is the draw: the operator describes it as "super" and notes the tropical sun and Caribbean breeze as the main reason to spend time there.
Transport is handled by air-conditioned vehicle from your hotel, and parking is covered. Children from age two can ride. The operator notes that infants and small children can travel in a pram or stroller if needed. Service animals are welcome. The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy.
