The experience

You start with a safety briefing, then take the controls of a fully automatic ATV and head out through the village and up hillsides for photos and the adrenaline of riding on your own. The winding jungle trail climbs to a mountain overlook where you can see across the landscape. The route also crosses river beds, so you're not just watching the terrain. You're moving through it. There's no faster way to cover this much ground and spot iguanas and tropical birds along the way.

After the ATV portion, you visit a small family-run wildlife sanctuary where a guide walks you through the park to see, learn about and photograph Roatan's local animals. Then you head to Hamilton Ranch to meet your horse. After another safety briefing, you ride out on natural trails and along water lines. This part is built for photos and time with the animals, not speed.

The whole experience runs about four hours and includes a driver-guide who speaks English or Spanish, a helmet, air-conditioned van transport to the sites, and pickup from your hotel. Children from age 8 can ride the ATV. Younger kids can join the horseback and eco-park portions if they're with an adult.
