Ziplining in Roatan: Horseback, ATV & Lagoon Cables
Three ways to move through a 165-acre reserve in four hours
This activity combines horseback riding, ziplining and ATV trails across Roatan's 165-acre nature reserve in a single morning. You ride through a century-old oak forest to Tortuga Point, a natural sea turtle breeding ground where your horse enters crystal-clear Caribbean waters; launch from Crooked Mountain on six ziplines with cables up to 1,600 feet long, soaring over the jungle canopy and across the island's only saltwater lagoon; then navigate dense jungle, creek beds and black iguanas on an ATV before reaching a pristine beach. A live guide in English or Spanish leads the group, and all gear, vehicle transport and taxes are included.

The experience
What makes this work is the sequence: you start on horseback through mangrove paths and rocky hills, arriving at Tortuga Point where the trail opens into the ocean. The water is shallow enough to ride through, and the views stretch across lagoons, coral reefs and white sand beaches. This is a natural sea turtle breeding ground, so the ride itself is the draw, not a stop on the way to something else.
The zipline section begins with a 4x4 truck climb up Crooked Mountain through dry oak forest into tropical rainforest. Six cables launch you over the jungle canopy. The longest stretch 1,600 feet across Roatan's only saltwater lagoon crossing. The aerial views are the point here. You're suspended above the landscape, not moving through it on the ground. All zipline gear is provided.
The ATV portion takes you through dense jungle, splash through creek beds and muddy terrain, past iron shore gardens where black iguanas bask. The trail opens to ocean panoramas before reaching a pristine beach. The whole activity runs four hours from start to finish, and because the cruise terminals are steps away, no time is spent in transit. A live guide in English or Spanish stays with the group throughout. All fees, taxes, vehicle transport and equipment are included. You bring only yourself and a moderate level of physical fitness.

Is this one for you?Book this if your group includes a mix of ages and fitness levels who want to try three different activities in one morning: the fixed sequence and shared guide mean everyone moves together, and the four-hour window fits easily between cruise ship schedules. Children from age 8 are welcome, though riders should have at least moderate physical fitness and no spinal injuries, pregnancy or cardiovascular concerns that would make the activities unsafe.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (12 to 17 years); Child (8 to 11 years). Children under 8 can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I do all three activities if I've never ridden a horse or driven an ATV before?
Yes. The horseback ride follows established trails through the forest and into the ocean at Tortuga Point: no prior riding experience is needed. The ATV trails are navigable for beginners, and the zipline operation handles all setup and safety gear. A live guide leads the group through each activity and can adjust the pace to match the group's comfort level.
What is Tortuga Point and why do we ride horses into the ocean there?
Tortuga Point is a natural sea turtle breeding ground on Roatan's coast where shallow Caribbean waters meet white sand beaches. The horseback ride winds through mangrove paths and rocky hills to reach it, and once there, your horse carries you into the crystal-clear water. The ride itself is the experience. You're surrounded by panoramic views of lagoons, coral reefs and iron shores from the water.
How long are the ziplines and what does the view look like from up there?
Six cables make up the zipline course, with the longest stretching 1,600 feet. You launch from Crooked Mountain and soar over the jungle canopy and across Roatan's only saltwater lagoon crossing. The aerial views show the full landscape below (dense forest, water, and the island's coastline) as you move from one platform to the next.
Is there time to swim or rest at the beach at the end?
Yes. The ATV trail ends at a pristine beach where you have time for photos or a quick refreshing dip in the water before the activity concludes. The whole experience runs four hours, so the beach is a natural wind-down after the three main activities.
What should I bring, and what's provided?
All gear is included: zipline harnesses and equipment, ATV gear, and horseback riding gear. The air-conditioned vehicle that transports you up Crooked Mountain is also included, along with all fees and taxes. Bring water and snacks if you want them: food and beverages are not included. Photos and videos are your own responsibility.
