The experience

After pickup from your hotel or the cruise-ship port, you'll walk with your guide through the labyrinth of Mykonos Town's whitewashed buildings and narrow streets. If you're lucky, you might spot Petros the pelican, the island's mascot. The guide gives you time to photograph the Church of Panagia Paraportiani, one of the most photographed churches in the world, which sits by the sea at the edge of the Kastro neighborhood.

From the town, you'll head uphill to the Mykonos Windmills overlooking the harbor. These structures once milled wheat using the strong Meltemi wind that sweeps across the Cyclades. Next comes Little Venice, the harborside area where Alefkandra's waterfront buildings face the Aegean. The tour then moves by car to the outer reaches of the island, passing Agia Anna and Kalo Livadi beaches on the way to Ano Mera village. There you'll stop at a taverna square for a light snack and a glass of tsipouro, the local distilled spirit.

At Panagia Tourliani Monastery in Ano Mera, you'll visit the 16th-century cathedral, named after the dome (tourlos) of the church and the icon of the Virgin Mary housed inside. The tour concludes at Agios Ioannis Beach, a small sandy settlement on the southwest coast with views across to the sacred island of Delos. The beach offers crystal-clear water and space to swim before you're returned to your starting point. An air-conditioned vehicle carries the group throughout, and the tour suits all fitness levels.
