Mykonos: Delos & Rhenia Sailing Cruise with Lunch & Snorkeling
Sail to Delos and Rhenia: Six Hours Between Ancient Ruins and Empty Beaches
You board at 9am and sail to Delos, where you spend an hour exploring the ancient birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. Lunch and drinks come next, served on deck as you head to Rhenia, an uninhabited island with four empty beaches and water that shifts from emerald to turquoise. You swim, snorkel, or paddle for several hours in a protected cove before returning to Mykonos by late afternoon. Hotel pickup is optional and arranged separately.
Step-by-step itinerary

- Return to boat for traditional lunch
- Sail to Rhenia Island
- Relax at Rhenia's sandy beaches
The Experience
The boat leaves Tourlos Marina at 9am, and within an hour you're standing on Delos — the island where Apollo and Artemis were born, according to ancient Greek religion. One hour to walk the archaeological site itself, the real thing, not a replica or a museum display. The ruins sit in the open air, columns and stone foundations scattered across the hillside, and your skipper (English-speaking, licensed) gives you the space to move through it at your own pace. Some people photograph every angle; others sit on a stone and just read the site markers. After that, back on the boat.
Lunch happens while you're sailing to Rhenia — traditional Mykonian food, wine, beer, whatever you want from the bar. The water around you shifts color as you move, from emerald to turquoise, and Rhenia appears ahead: four times larger than Delos, completely uninhabited, ringed by four sandy beaches tucked into protected coves. This is where the sailing part of the day opens up. You anchor in one of those coves, and the crew sets out snorkeling equipment if you want it, or a SUP board if you'd rather paddle. The water is clear enough that you see the bottom. Most people swim here for two or three hours, or just float and read. No crowds, no vendors, no schedule beyond the boat's return time.
The whole thing runs six hours total, which sounds long until you realize you're not managing transport, entry fees, or timing — the skipper and his assistant handle the boat, the lunch is cooked on board, and the return to Mykonos is built in. If Delos closes (it happens, weather or archaeology), you'll sail past it but won't land; the operator notes this upfront. Hotel pickup is available on request for an extra charge, which saves the step of getting yourself to Tourlos Marina.
