The experience

The tour runs eight hours and covers ground that spans 5,000 years. You start at Saqqara, where the Step Pyramid of Djoser stands as Egypt's oldest stone construction, built around 2700 B.C. and designed by the architect Imhotep. This is where the pyramid concept itself began: a stepping stone to the monuments you'll see next. From there the route moves to the Giza Plateau, where you walk among the three main pyramids: the Great Pyramid of Cheops (the largest, built from roughly 2.3 million limestone blocks), the Pyramid of Khafre at 136 meters high, and the Pyramid of Menkaure. A guide walks you through what each structure was, who built it and why.

The Giza Plateau visit includes time to climb up and see all three pyramids aligned together: the vantage point where photographs actually capture their scale relative to each other. You'll also stand in front of the Great Sphinx, carved from a single piece of limestone and dedicated to King Khafre. The camel ride lasts 30 minutes and happens during the tour. Throughout the day you have an air-conditioned vehicle between sites, bottled water, and a driver who knows the route.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included if your accommodation is in Downtown Cairo or Giza. Hotels in New Cairo, the new administrative capital, Airport Road or 6th October City incur an extra charge. The guide speaks English or Arabic depending on your choice at booking. This is a structured tour with set stops and timing, not a flexible itinerary.
