Step-by-step itinerary
Explore ranch and adventure activities
- Visit traditional 150-year-old house
- Horseback riding in mountains
- Enjoy zip line experience
- Dune buggy adventure to Anamuya river
- Relax at Macao Beach
The experience
The zipline is one of nine activities packed into a single morning and afternoon, not the whole day. You start at a traditional Dominican house built like homes from 150 years ago, where you see and touch period furniture, kitchen tools and the plants used for coffee, cacao and tobacco. Then comes the horseback riding in the mountains after the guide walks you through the basics. The zipline follows at the same location, with the guide explaining the setup and safety rules before you clip in. Helmets and gloves are provided.
After ziplining, you drive a dune buggy across the ranch terrain down to the Anamuya river and back, operating the vehicle yourself under the guide's instruction. A hanging bridge crossing comes next, then a swim in the river. The ranch sits on working plantations, so you taste coffee, cacao, tobacco and other local products, including Mama Juana, before sitting down to an authentic Dominican lunch of rice, beans, chicken or beef, and green salads. The day ends with roughly twenty minutes at Macao Beach, the only public beach in Punta Cana, where you can watch surfers and the ocean life.
Transport is air-conditioned and included from your hotel. The guide speaks your language (English, Spanish, Portuguese or French), and stays with the group throughout. Children from age two can join, though the operator asks that young children stay with an adult during horseback riding and buggy segments for safety. The whole experience runs about six hours from pickup to drop-off.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (10 to 17 years); Child (6 to 9 years); Infant (2 to 5 years): free.
Can I actually operate the zipline myself, or does a guide do it?
You operate the zipline yourself after the guide explains the equipment and safety rules. The guide is present and supervising, but you clip in and ride the line on your own.
What's the horseback riding like for someone who's never ridden before?
The guide gives instruction before you ride, covering the basics of how to handle the horse. You then ride in the mountains and around the ranch grounds. Children and inexperienced riders should stay supervised.
Is the dune buggy something I drive, or does the guide drive?
You drive the dune buggy yourself after receiving instruction from the guide on how to manage the vehicle safely. The route runs from the ranch down to the Anamuya river and back.
What exactly happens at the traditional Dominican house?
The house is built and furnished like homes from 150 years ago. You walk through, see and touch period furniture, beds, kitchen equipment, and learn about the medicinal and commercial plants grown on the property: coffee, cacao, tobacco and others.
Does the price include lunch, and what if I have dietary restrictions?
Lunch is included and consists of rice, beans, chicken or beef, and green salads served at the ranch. Dietary needs should be mentioned when booking so the operator can accommodate them.
How much time do we actually spend at Macao Beach?
Macao Beach is the final stop and lasts around twenty minutes. It's the only public beach in Punta Cana, and you'll see surfers and marine life during your time there.
