Step-by-step itinerary
Adventure activities and relaxation
- Zipline tour with rappel and swings
- Horseback riding tour
- River tubing level II & III
- Hot springs and volcanic mud bath
- Typical Costa Rica buffet lunch
The experience
The day starts with eight ziplines strung across the canopy: each one a separate run, with the option to rappel down, swing Tarzan-style on a rope, or test the rock climbing wall between cables. The zipline section runs about 90 minutes and is open to children from age 4, so families can split up if needed. After that comes the river: a 3-kilometer float down Class II and III rapids with stretches calm enough to drift and watch a waterfall at the start. That leg takes 90 minutes and requires a minimum age of 8.
The afternoon shifts to stillness. You soak in naturally heated hot springs and volcanic mud sourced from a nearby active volcano: the minerals exfoliate and warm the skin at once. The whole experience runs 8 to 9 hours door to door, with lunch (a typical Costa Rican buffet of salads, fruits, main courses and desserts) built in. Transport is private, air-conditioned and includes WiFi. A guide who speaks English and Spanish stays with the group throughout.
Bring a bathing suit, water shoes (not flip-flops), tennis shoes for the zipline, bug spray and extra dry clothes. The operator requires a minimum of four adults to run the tour, and it is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with cardiovascular concerns. Moderate fitness helps.
