The experience
You start in the treetops. The Las Pavas zip line carries you across the canopy, then you cross the suspended bridges of Los Higuerones before dropping down Costa Rica's largest waterslide. The adrenaline comes first, the landscape second. You are moving through it, not watching it pass. After the slides and lines, a buffet lunch of Guanacaste specialties and local coffee grounds the morning's rush.
The afternoon shifts to a different kind of motion. You choose horseback or tractor to reach Pacaya Hot Springs, where five thermal pools, a steam sauna and a volcanic mud bath wait. The mud is the thing people remember. It cools on your skin while the springs stay warm, and the contrast is the whole point. Before heading back, there is time to browse Costa Rican crafts in Liberia city if you want to carry something home.
The day runs eight hours total with hotel pickup and drop-off included from selected properties. A minimum of two people per booking is required. Bring tennis shoes, long or short pants, swimsuit, change clothes, sunglasses, insect repellent and a camera. A current valid passport is required on the day of travel. Vegetarian lunch options are available. Note your preference when you book.
