ATV and canopy ziplining activity from Flamingo Beach combines an off-road ride through jungle, dry forest and river crossings with zipline cables up to 500 meters long strung between the treetops. The ATV gets you to the canopy site and brings you back. A professional guide leads both parts. Minimum age to drive the ATV is 16. Passengers of any age can ride along. Hotel pickup is available for the Papagayo and Hermosa Beach areas, or you can meet at the starting point.

The experience

You drive your own ATV over a trail that regular vehicles cannot pass: wire fences, thorn branches, rocks and a river crossing up to 3 feet deep make it accessible only on four wheels. The guide leads the way and can help if the ATV gets stuck in mud. Once you reach the canopy site, you switch to the ziplines: cables stretch up to 500 meters between the trees, letting you move through the forest from the top down. The whole experience takes about four hours, ending when the guide returns you to your hotel or starting point.

Wear sneakers and clothes you don't mind getting dirty: mud happens on the trail. Bring a change of clothes if you want to freshen up after. The guide carries bottled water and a helmet for each person. Weather can cancel the activity: lightning, strong wind or heavy rain means the guide will stop for safety. A minimum of two people must book together. If not enough passengers confirm, you'll be offered an alternative date or a full refund.

Drivers must be at least 16 years old and bring a valid driver's license or passport. Passengers of any age can ride on the ATV with an adult: infants sit on a lap. The activity is not suitable for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or serious heart conditions. Moderate fitness is expected. An extra passenger on the ATV costs $35 additional.
