Step-by-step itinerary

Flamingo Beach ATV Adventure

  • Ride ATV on winding mountain trails
  • Reach 1,240 feet elevation viewpoint
  • Stop for refreshments
  • Visit five different beaches
  • Swim or play in the sand

The experience

You operate the ATV yourself up the Monkey Trail and Donkey Trail through Guanacaste, climbing to an elevation where the ocean and mountains come into view from every direction. The ride is the work. Winding uphill on rugged terrain, then the payoff is the vista: Danta Beach and the Las Catalinas Project spread below, and open water beyond. After a stop for water and a breath, the guide leads you down to five different beaches where you can swim or walk the sand before heading back to your hotel.

The three-hour window means you leave and return in a single morning or afternoon block. Pickup happens from a designated meeting point, and the guide speaks English, Spanish or Italian depending on your group. Children from age four can ride, and the operator says the ride suits all fitness levels. The challenge is steering and balance, not endurance or strength. Helmets and safety gear are provided.

Spots fill fast during peak season, so booking ahead protects your preferred time. Bring water and sunscreen. Meals are not included, though the refreshment stop breaks up the ride.
