The experience

The moment you step onto the Capilano Suspension Bridge, the river drops away beneath your feet. Seventy meters down, the Capilano River moves through the canyon, and the bridge sways just enough to remind you it's real. The walk takes you across the span itself, then into the Treetops Adventure (a series of smaller bridges woven through the old-growth forest canopy), and finally along the Cliffwalk, a narrow path carved into the rock face that hugs the cliff edge. It's not a casual stroll. The forest here is dense and quiet, and you're moving through it on purpose.

After the bridge, you head to Grouse Mountain. The Skyride gondola carries you 1,100 meters up the mountainside in about ten minutes, and the view opens as you rise: first the forest floor, then the city spreading out below, then the Pacific Ocean and the mountains beyond it. At the top, the air changes. You can see across the water to distant peaks, and on clear days the view reaches far enough that you understand why people come back here.
