Vancouver City Tour & Capilano Suspension Bridge: Canyon Lights
Walk across a suspension bridge high above the canyon floor, then see it glow against the darkening sky.
A guided city tour of Vancouver departing from downtown hotels, visiting Canada Place, Robson Street, Stanley Park and the Lions Gate Bridge, then finishing at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park where thousands of lights decorate the bridge and grounds during November through January. The tour runs five hours with a driver-guide included; hotel pickup and drop-off are part of the booking. Children from age 3 are welcome.
Step-by-step itinerary
Explore Vancouver and Capilano Lights
- Depart from downtown Vancouver
- Visit Canada Place and learn Expo ’86 history
- Drive along Robson Street shopping district
- Explore Stanley Park and see totem poles
- Cross Lions Gate Bridge to North Vancouver
- Walk Capilano Suspension Bridge and enjoy lights
The Experience
The tour starts with pickup from most downtown Vancouver hotels and heads straight into the city's landmarks. You'll see Canada Place's five white sails—built for Expo '86—and cruise down Robson Street to spot the mix of high-end shops, indie boutiques, and restaurants that define the neighborhood. Stanley Park comes next, a thousand-acre stretch of natural forest where you stop at Brockton Point to see nine totem poles carved by First Nations artists, one of British Columbia's top attractions. The Lions Gate Bridge crosses next, a historic suspension span that connects Vancouver to North Vancouver and frames the whole inlet.
The afternoon timing is deliberate: you arrive at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park later, when the light is fading and the festive lights—thousands of them strung across the bridge and through the park—start to show. The bridge itself hangs 230 feet above the canyon floor. Beyond the main crossing, the park includes the Cliffwalk, a narrow walkway built into the cliff face, and the Treektrek, a series of bridges suspended between old-growth trees. You move through the lit grounds at your own pace once you arrive, so the experience shifts from guided stops to your own exploration of the illuminated space.
The driver-guide handles all the stops and timing, which means you're not navigating between attractions or managing a schedule. Hotel pickup and drop-off at the start and end keep the logistics simple, especially if you're arriving tired or traveling with children. The tour operates in all weather, so bring layers and rain gear if the forecast calls for it.
