The experience
The tour runs a minimum of four hours, and you decide how to spend them. Your guide (either John or Mary, each with over 35 years in wine, hospitality and travel) picks you up from Adelaide CBD in a BMW 530i M Sports sedan or an AWD RAV4 Hybrid Cruiser, depending on your preference. The vehicle holds up to four people, so a couple or small group travels without strangers, and the quoted price is per car, not per head, which changes the math for anyone splitting the cost.
You can work from one of the operator's set itineraries or build your own route on the morning of the tour. The Adelaide Hills region has cellar doors, wineries, distilleries and craft breweries scattered across it, plus the Hahndorf historic German township, a chocolate factory, a cheese maker, and viewpoints across the hills. Your guide knows the venues and can steer you toward what fits the time you have left, or you can stay longer at a single place and skip others. If you want to extend the tour beyond four hours, you can arrange that on the day.
Bottled water is provided. If you want snacks, order them before the tour begins. Lunch is not part of the package, so plan a stop at a winery restaurant or a café in Hahndorf if that matters to your group. The tour is led in English by a local guide who knows the region and its producers.
Is this one for you?Pickup from Adelaide CBD means you don't need a car or a designated driver to explore the Adelaide Hills wine region. The guide handles the route and the driving while you focus on the tastings and the stops. The flexible itinerary lets you change direction mid-tour if a venue appeals more than the one you planned, or stay longer at a single cellar door without losing the rest of the day to a fixed schedule.

Top questions
Can I pick which wineries and cellar doors we visit, or does the tour follow a set route?
You choose. The tour offers set itineraries to follow, or you can name the specific cellar doors, wineries, distilleries or other attractions you want to visit and the guide will build the day around them.
What is Hahndorf, and is it worth a stop on a wine tour?
Hahndorf is a historic German township in the Adelaide Hills, settled in the 1830s by Lutheran refugees. It sits among the wine region and offers a change of pace from cellar doors (galleries, craft shops, cafes and a different kind of local character), so some groups add it as one stop among several.
Does the price change if there are fewer than four of us, or if we want to extend the tour?
The quoted price covers up to four people as a total cost per car, not per person, so a group of two pays the same as a group of four. If you want to extend beyond four hours, you can arrange that on the tour day and pay an additional rate.
Is lunch included, or do we need to arrange that ourselves?
Lunch is not included. You can stop at a winery restaurant, a café in Hahndorf, or another venue during the tour, and order and pay separately.
What if I don't have a car and I'm staying in Adelaide? How does pickup work?
Free pickup and drop-off from Adelaide CBD are included in the tour price. If you're staying elsewhere in Adelaide, pickup can be arranged by contacting the operator.
