The experience

You'll start at Pindarie Wines in the heritage Stables Tasting Room, where you taste award-winning wines and have morning tea in the Grain Store cafe: the verandah overlooks the valley, or you can sit under the pepper tree. From there you get free time to wander the boutiques and galleries on Tanunda's main street before heading to Mengler Hill Lookout for views across the valley. The tour then moves to Lambert Estate for lunch: a two-course meal served on a sun-drenched balcony in summer or by a crackling fire in winter, with vineyard views and local art on the walls. Wine tastings come with the meal, and you can linger over coffee and a chocolate port afterward.

After lunch, you'll walk the grounds of Chateau Tanunda with a guide, explore the gardens and the property itself, and taste their wine. The day ends at Maggie Beer's Farm Shop, where you have time to browse souvenirs or grab an afternoon tea or coffee at your own cost. Throughout the eight hours, your guide talks about the region's history and heritage.
