The experience

You pick one of three ways to ride: water skis that skim the surface, a buoyant wakeboard for a different kind of glide, or a kneeboard where you sit on your heels with a strap securing your thighs to the deck. A live instructor in English, Spanish, or Dutch teaches beginners the fundamentals (how to hold the rope, when to lean back, how to let the boat's pull do the work), and watches more experienced riders execute slaloms, jumps, and trick riding during the 30-minute run. The motorboat does the work. You focus on balance and the rush of speed across the water.

Good swimming ability is required, and you need to be at least 12 years old. The credit card holder must be present at check-in with a picture ID or copy of an ID card, driver's license, or passport. Weight limits apply. The maximum is 225 lbs. (102 kg). The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health. Moderate physical fitness is the baseline.

What’s included

  • All equipment for your chosen activity (water skis, wakeboard, or kneeboard) is provided.
  • instruction for beginners or supervision for experienced riders during the 30-minute session.
