The experience
The FlyBoard is a jetpack-powered board that lifts you above the water while you control the altitude and movement. After a short lesson on land, you step into the board and rise (hovering, climbing, diving), over the Caribbean. The instructor stays in the water below, controlling the board's power via remote, but you're the one steering and feeling the flight. Most people describe the first few seconds as disorienting. After that, it's the thing they talk about for months.
Safety gear is mandatory: a helmet and life jacket go on before you enter the water. The instructor will dial back your speed and height based on the weather and your comfort, so the experience scales to your nerve. Delphi Watersports sits on the beach directly in front of the Hyatt Regency towel hut, and the staff (Jhon and Olga) handle check-in and setup. You'll need to bring a picture ID or a copy of one (driver's license or passport), and the credit card holder must be present at check-in.
The whole session runs 30 minutes from start to finish. Public transportation stops nearby if you're staying elsewhere on the island and don't have a rental car. Weight limits cap at 250 pounds, and the activity isn't suitable for anyone with spinal injuries, cardiovascular concerns, or pregnancy.
