The experience

You meet on the beach right next to the Old Men and The Sea, direction of San Nicolas, before 4:30 pm. The guide gives you kayak instruction on the sand, then you paddle out. After ten to fifteen minutes on the water, you reach Sea Glass Island: the actual draw here, since most visitors to Aruba never make it this far. The island is only reachable by private boat or kayak, which is why it stays quiet. You spend roughly an hour hunting the shoreline for sea glass, the worn and frosted pieces that wash up and collect there. It's not a guided nature walk. You're looking for something specific, turning over rocks and scanning the sand.

The paddle back follows the same route, and you're back at the starting beach by the end of the two hours. Water and fresh fruit come with the tour, along with the kayak, paddles and life jacket. If you book the transfer option, a towel is included for after. The guide speaks English or Spanish depending on the group. Transportation is optional. You can arrange your own way to the beach, or add pickup from your hotel at checkout.
