The experience
The trek starts from your hotel in Pu Luong and follows village trails through the reserve's countryside. You walk past terraced rice fields and lush valleys, stopping at local stilt houses to meet families and see how they work the land. The route depends on season and group preference: Kho Muong Village sits deep in the valley with access to Bat Cave's natural formations, or Don Village offers an S-shaped road framed by rice paddies and photo stops. If water levels allow, Hieu Waterfall is an option instead, with a natural spring and views of farming at work.
Your guide speaks English and knows the villages and their residents. Entrance to the reserve, bottled water during the trek, and hotel pickup are included. The whole experience runs about four hours, ending by 5pm so you have the evening free.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (5 to 9 years); Child (1 to 4 years).
What's the difference between the private tour and the group tour option?
The private tour is just your group. The group tour shares the guide and route with other travelers. Both follow the same itinerary and include the same guide, water, and pickup.
Can I choose which village or waterfall to visit, or does the guide decide?
The guide chooses based on season, weather, and what your group prefers. Hieu Waterfall is only available when water levels are high enough. Otherwise you'll visit one of the two villages.
What time does the tour start and end?
Pickup from your hotel is between 1:30pm and 2pm, and you return by 5pm. The trek itself runs roughly three hours in between.
Is this trek difficult, or can anyone do it?
The tour suits all fitness levels. It's a relaxed walk through village trails rather than a strenuous hike, though the terrain is uneven and includes some elevation change.
What should I bring or wear?
Wear comfortable walking shoes with grip, as trails can be muddy or slippery. Bring a hat and sunscreen. The guide provides bottled water, but you may want to carry a small backpack for personal items.
