Full-day trekking and cultural exploration

  • Meet local guide at Quán Mộc Pù Luông
  • Trek from Don Village through rice terraces
  • Visit Quan and Uoi villages
  • Explore Lan Village and meet Thai weavers
  • Transfer to Hieu Waterfall and have lunch
  • Swim and relax at Hieu Waterfall
  • Trek through upper Hieu Village and farmland

The experience

You meet your guide at 9am in Don Village and spend the day moving slowly through Pu Luong on foot or two wheels. The trek follows narrow paths through rice terraces toward Quan and Uoi villages, then continues to Lan Village, where you stop to watch Thai weavers at work and talk with locals about a craft passed down through generations. If you booked the cycling option instead, you ride quiet village roads through the same countryside, following a different route that also reaches Hieu Waterfall. Either way, the morning moves at a pace that lets you actually see how people live here, not just pass through.

For trekkers, the trail continues another hour through hidden village paths to a Co Lung duck farm, where you learn why this local breed is protected by Vietnam's Geographical Indication certification. Cyclists rejoin the group at lunch. A transfer takes everyone to Hieu Waterfall, the largest in Pu Luong, where you eat at a local restaurant beside the water, then swim or rest in the afternoon quiet. After lunch, the trek continues into the upper part of Hieu Village, passing small streams, stilt houses, and farmland. By late afternoon, a transfer brings you back to Don Village, ending around 5pm.

The tour runs roughly 7 to 8 hours total and covers 19 kilometers. Your guide speaks English throughout, entrance fees are included, and travel insurance is covered. You'll need at least moderate fitness for the trek option. The bike option is less strenuous but still involves village roads and some hills.
