The experience
The day starts at 8:30 with pickup from your hotel. Your guide takes you through rice fields and mountains to Lan Village, where you watch silk being made from cocoon to finished cloth and try weaving a piece yourself. From there you move to Chieng Lau Village to see traditional farming and the old waterwheels still in use, then set out on a 4km trek from Chieng Lau down to Cham Stream. The walk passes through a local household where you stop for tea and conversation, and by 10:45 you're on the bamboo raft.
The rafting stretch floats you through forest, rice paddies and small villages at a pace that lets you take it in. At 11:30 lunch arrives on the raft itself. A full meal served while you're still on the water. Bring a swimsuit if the weather is warm. You'll have time to swim. The afternoon splits into two options depending on conditions and season: either a swim and rest at Hieu Waterfall, surrounded by forest, or a trek through Kho Muong village combined with a visit to Bat Cave, known for its limestone formations. You're back at your lodge by 4:00 PM.
An English-speaking local guide leads the whole day. The tour includes the entrance fee to Pu Luong Nature Reserve, bottled water throughout, and air-conditioned transport to and from your hotel. Small group departures run regularly. Private tours are also available if you want to book just for your party.

Is this one for you?Small group tours work well if you're comfortable meeting other travelers and want a set schedule. Private tours suit groups who prefer their own pace and guide. Either way, the fixed itinerary means all three main activities (trekking, silk weaving, and rafting) fit into a single day without backtracking.
