The experience
The day splits into two halves, each one a different kind of cave. Paradise Cave opens with a walk along wooden pathways through chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites that took millions of years to form. A calm, visual start that lets you adjust to the scale of the place. After lunch, the pace shifts entirely. Dark Cave is where you actually move: you zipline across the river to reach the entrance, then swim into the mouth of the cave and disappear into total darkness.
Inside Dark Cave, a headlamp is your only light. You trek through muddy passages, wade through underground water, and reach a natural mud bath: mineral-rich water pooled inside the cave where you can soak. The mud itself is the draw here. It's not a manufactured spa treatment but an actual geological feature of the cave system. After the cave, the itinerary branches into kayaking and optional jungle trekking through the national park, so you can push harder or ease back depending on how much energy you have left.
Transport, lunch, bottled water and all park fees are included. You're picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. The group stays small, which changes how the day feels. You're not moving through crowds at either cave. Audio guide available in English or Vietnamese. Children from age 4 can join, though the cave swimming and mud bath mean you need to be comfortable in water and moving through tight, wet spaces.

Is this one for you?The small group size keeps the caves from feeling crowded, which matters when you're navigating tight passages and sharing limited space underground. If you want both the visual spectacle of a major cave system and the physical thrill of ziplining, swimming and mudding in one day, this combines both, but it demands comfort in water and moving through dark, confined spaces.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (6 to 7 years); Child (4 to 5 years). Under 4: they can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly is the mud bath inside Dark Cave like?
Dark Cave holds a natural pool of mineral-rich water deep inside the cave system. You wade through muddy passages to reach it, then soak in the warm water. It's an actual geological feature of the cave, not a constructed pool or spa treatment. The mud and water are part of the cave environment itself.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to zipline into Dark Cave and swim through it?
You zipline across the river to the cave entrance, then swim into the cave mouth and through passages inside. The swimming happens in confined underground water, so comfort in water and tight spaces matters more than speed or strength. The operator rates the activity suitable for all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.
How long does the whole day take, and what time does it start?
The full day runs 8 hours from start to finish. Hotel pickup is included, so the timing depends on where you're staying in the area. The operator will confirm the exact pickup time when you book.
Is Paradise Cave and Dark Cave the same place, or do I visit two different caves?
They're two separate cave systems in Phong Nha: Kẻ Bàng National Park. You start at Paradise Cave, known as the "Underground Palace," where you walk wooden pathways through massive chambers. After lunch, you move to Dark Cave for the ziplining, swimming and mud bath: the more active part of the day.
What's included in the price, and what do I need to bring?
The package includes private transport from your hotel, lunch, bottled water, all park entry fees and taxes, and use of the air-conditioned vehicle. Bring swimwear, a towel, water shoes or sandals that can get wet, and a change of clothes for after the mud bath. Breakfast and drinks beyond the bottled water are not included.
