The experience

Three days of riding takes you through Ha Giang loop on terrain most tours skip. Instead of the common on-road paths, you climb dirt bikes and enduro bikes over challenging tracks toward Quan Ba Heaven Gate. A route that can take several hours if rain softens the ground. The payoff is access to stretches of road that carry you past the standard tourist circuit. Hotel pickup is included, and the guide speaks English or Spanish.

Day one moves through Ha Giang, Quan Ba, Yen Minh, and into Dong Van, with stops at local villages to watch how people live in the highlands. After conquering the off-road section to Heaven Gate, you ride to Lung Cu flagpole and visit Lo Lo village for lunch, then continue on enduro bikes toward Dong Van town. You arrive in the late afternoon, check into your hotel, and spend the evening in Dong Van Old Quarter, where lanterns light the streets and cold beer is waiting. All meals are Vietnamese food cooked locally.

The bikes are well-maintained Japanese models, and the operator supplies helmets, gloves, and bright reflecting jackets. A professional mechanic travels with the group for emergency repairs. If your group has more than five riders, a photographer and video recorder document the tour. Entrance tickets to sites are included, and gasoline is covered. Bring your own riding pants and personal insurance. The operator does not cover damage to gear or the motorcycle.
