The experience

The tour starts at 8 am from Ha Giang City or your hotel, and the first day climbs through Pac Sum Pass (over 1,000 meters altitude) to Heaven Gate, where the road opens onto a deep valley. You ride in the back of an open jeep, so the landscape stays visible the whole way: mountain faces, limestone cliffs, villages built into the slopes. The afternoon takes you down to Lung Tam Village, where a guide walks you through a Dao minority settlement and into local homes to see how people live there. By evening you reach Yen Minh, stop at a viewpoint over terraced rice paddies, and drive on to Dong Van, where you sleep in a traditional house.

Day two is the famous stretch: the route leaves Dong Van on Happy Road and climbs Ma Pi Leng Pass, the most photographed road in Ha Giang. The pass runs along a cliff face above the Nho Que River, and from the open jeep you can stand and see straight down the valley. You stop at viewpoints to walk and take pictures, then continue to Meo Vac, where the guide stops at the local market if it's a market day (30 minutes). The afternoon passes through Mau Due Valley and ends at Du Gia Village, where you stay overnight in another homestay.

On the final day, the jeep climbs to Dao minority villages in the hills, passes through terraced rice paddies and Lung Ho Valley, then heads back toward Ha Giang. Before the city, you cross Duong Thuong Valley (some travelers say the landscape looks like a fairy's breasts), and stop at Quan Ba. You arrive back in Ha Giang around 2:30 pm, rest until a limousine picks you up at 3:30 or 4 pm, and reach Hanoi by 9:30 pm. Breakfast and dinner are included all three days. The guide speaks English and handles all entry fees.

Is this one for you?Book this tour if you have three days free and want to see the full Ha Giang loop in one trip. Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Youth (12 to 18 years); Child (5 to 11 years); Infant (1 to 4 years): free.

What is Ma Pi Leng Pass and why is it the highlight of the Ha Giang loop?

Ma Pi Leng Pass is a mountain road that runs along a cliff face above the Nho Que River, with views straight down into a deep valley. It is considered the most beautiful and famous section of the Ha Giang loop, and you ride through it on the back of an open jeep on day two, with stops at viewpoints to walk and photograph the river and valley below.

Where do I sleep on this 3-day tour?

You stay two nights in village homestays: the first in Dong Van in a traditional house, and the second in Du Gia Village. Both are private rooms with meals included. Breakfast and dinner are provided each day.

Do I need a motorcycle license or any special experience to ride on this tour?

No license is required. You ride as a passenger in an open-air jeep driven by a guide, not on a motorcycle. The jeep holds multiple passengers and travels the full loop on roads and passes.

What happens if I arrive in Ha Giang for the first time? How do I get to the tour start?

Hotel pickup is included in Ha Giang City. The guide collects you around 8 am on day one. If you are arriving from Hanoi, you can arrange a separate transfer to your Ha Giang hotel the day before, or book a limousine transfer from Hanoi that drops you at your hotel in time for the 8 am pickup.

What is included in the price and what do I need to bring?

The tour includes the jeep, guide, all entry fees, breakfast and dinner, accommodation in homestays, and return limousine transfer to Hanoi. Bring light layers (mountain temperatures drop at altitude), a swimsuit for Du Gia Waterfall, sun protection, and a camera. Lunch is not included, but the guide stops at local restaurants where you can eat.
