The experience

The day begins at 5:30 AM with pickup from your Sapa hotel. A driver and local guide take you by car to Tram Ton Pass, a staging point at 2,000 meters where the actual trek begins at 6:30 AM. From there, the climb to the summit takes 7–8 hours round-trip. The route passes through distinct ecosystems: lower sections hold cardamom plants and giant centuries-old pines. Higher elevations shift to dwarf bamboo forest and open views across the Muong Hoa valley and the surrounding Hoang Lien Son range. You may spot mountain goats and langur monkeys along the way.

The peak sits at 3,143 meters, Vietnam's highest point, inside a nature reserve protecting over 100 orchid varieties and 327 animal species. You reach the summit around noon, with time to rest and photograph before the descent begins at 1:30 PM. A porter is assigned to every three trekkers, so the physical load is shared. Your guide leads each step and the operator stresses this is a challenge meant to push your limits, but not beyond reach with proper support. You descend back to Tram Ton Pass where your driver waits, then return to Sapa town by 4:00–4:30 PM.

The tour includes park entrance fees, a large water bottle per person, work gloves, a summiting certificate, and a vegetarian meal option if you need it. Transport from Sapa to Tram Ton and back is covered. You can arrange tips for the guide, porter and driver at checkout if you wish, and extra drinks are available at the homestay stop. The tour ends early enough to catch an evening bus back to Hanoi or onward travel.

Operated by Trekking Tour Sapa

Is this one for you? This is a shared guided trek, so you climb with other trekkers under the leadership of one guide and with porter assistance: suited to anyone fit enough for 7–8 hours of sustained climbing who wants the support and company of a group rather than going solo. The porter system means you are not carrying the full load yourself, which makes the physical challenge more manageable than a self-supported ascent would be.
