The experience

The lesson starts on the beach at Kalama Park with a short land session covering the fundamentals of surfing and ocean safety. Your instructor walks through the mechanics before you paddle out, so you understand what to expect in the water. Once you're in, the rest of the time is spent practicing with your guide at your side, adapting the teaching to match your ability, whether you're a complete beginner or someone who's tried it once before.

All equipment is included: surfboard, wetsuit and rash shirt (subject to availability). The semi-private format means you'll have one instructor with a small group rather than a one-on-one session, keeping the cost down while still getting personalized feedback on your technique and form.

Kalama Park is the meeting point, and you'll need to arrive ready to get in the water. A minimum of two people per booking is required for the semi-private rate.
