The experience
You're set up by guides who hold professional rock climbing certifications and Wilderness First Responder training, and they'll choose the right routes from Joshua Tree's over 9,000 options based on what you tell them about your comfort and goals. The guides know the park terrain well enough to match the day to your skill, whether that means a straightforward scramble to a rappel point or a technical climb followed by the descent. All climbing and rappelling equipment comes with you. You show up ready to move.
The activity runs 4 hours total. What you actually do depends on the route the guides set: you'll climb or scramble to reach the rappel setup, then descend the rock face under their direction. Because the trip is customized, no two days are identical, and the guides adjust for what your group wants to accomplish. Moderate physical fitness is expected. The guides will discuss what that means when you book.
National park entrance fees are separate and optional. You choose at checkout whether to add them. The guides are available in English, French, German or Japanese.

Is this one for you?You do the rappelling yourself under guide instruction, not watch a demonstration, so this suits anyone with moderate fitness who wants hands-on rock work. The customized route means small groups and solo travelers get the same attention as larger parties, and the guides adjust the day to what you actually want to accomplish rather than running a fixed itinerary.
