The experience

The tour starts at the Joshua Tree Saloon Bar in downtown Joshua Tree and moves through the surrounding high desert by private vehicle. Your guide drives you to the architectural homes and art sites, stopping to walk around and explain what you're seeing: the design choices, the artists behind them, and the cultural history that drew so many creative people to this region. You'll see the Doolittle House, an architectural masterpiece set into the rocks, and pass by famous Airbnbs like the Bonita domes and the Futuro house.

The itinerary includes a stop at the Noah Purifoy Art Museum, where your guide walks you through the pieces and tells you about the artist's work. You'll also visit the Integratron in nearby Landers, a dome structure with its own story. Along the way, you'll encounter other art installations (Transmission and Desert Christ Park among them) each with details your guide can explain. The route covers Joshua Tree National Park areas, Pioneer Town, and Rimrock, so you get a sense of the whole region's artistic landscape in one afternoon.
