The experience

The tour starts in the heart of Port of Spain at Independence Square, where the imposing Central Bank anchors the bustling downtown surrounded by lively shopping streets. You'll see the former Parliament Building, the Supreme Court and historic Woodford Square before moving on to Queen's Park Savannah, a 200-acre recreational park known locally as the world's largest roundabout. The Savannah is lined with exotic trees and ringed by colonial mansions. The finest of these, a row called the Magnificent Seven, show off intricate architectural details from an earlier era.

A walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens follows, where you can move at your own pace among tropical trees and planted grounds. The tour then heads into the suburb of St James and climbs to Fort George, the final stop. At approximately 236 feet above sea level, this historical site opens onto panoramic views of Port of Spain, the Gulf of Paria, central and south Trinidad, and on clear days, the hills of Venezuela.
