You pick up a helmet and get basic training from your guide before heading out on the quad. The route changes with the season: in the right months you'll pass a waterfall, but the ride always cuts through coconut groves, rubber plantations, mountain viewpoints and river crossings that sit inland from the beaches. The terrain is off-road and uneven, so the pace is steady rather than flat-out. The guide leads and stays with the group.

Morning tours leave around 10:30 and afternoon tours around 14:30, every day of the year. Hotel pickup starts between 09:30 and 10:00 for the afternoon slot, and the morning tour timing depends on when your hotel can have you ready. If you book the 1-hour option and want to keep riding once you're out there, you can extend to 2 hours and settle the difference with the guide when you return. Groups max out at 20 quads, so you're not in a massive convoy.

The activity suits families and all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal or serious heart conditions. Dress for mud and possible rain: the tracks get wet and the operator runs in all weather. Children from 5 can ride as passengers. Kids 12 and older can drive the quad themselves once they pass a basic ability test at the base. If at any point you feel uncomfortable on the trail, the guide is there to help.
