The Experience
The jeep picks you up from your hotel mid-morning and climbs into the island's interior. The first stop is Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks, ancient formations near a market of handmade Thai products. From there the route heads to Na Muang, the largest waterfall on Koh Samui, where you swim in the natural spring water before the guide takes you to Wat Khunaram temple to see a mummified monk and ring the temple gong.
The 4WD then pushes higher into the mountains, stopping at viewpoints and passing through jungle where the guide may spot and handle wild green snakes if they're in season. You'll also sample local fruit and sugar cane when available. Around midday you stop at Mather Lada for a traditional southern Thai lunch with views across the island, then continue to Secret Buddha Garden, where 300 hand-carved statues stand among waterfalls and stone paths.
The final climb is to Pra Buddha Dipankara at Teepangkorn temple — Samui's highest and most spectacular Buddha statue, with 360-degree views of the entire island. The jeep returns you to your hotel by late afternoon. All fees, taxes and water are included; the guide speaks English, German or Thai depending on the group.
