The experience

You pick your duration when you book, anywhere from 1 to 7 hours, and the ride is built around your skill level. The 1–2-hour course focuses on technique for experienced riders; the 2–3-hour adventure takes you off the beaten path through unpaved trails and natural spots; the 3–4-hour ride pushes harder with obstacles and scenery; the 4–5-hour tour lets you explore the island's countryside, jungle trails, and steep hills; and the 5–7-hour option covers coconut plantations, farmlands, rocky paths, streams, and marshlands across Koh Samui's terrain. A professional instructor rides with your group of up to five, and you control the pace.

You get body armour, riding shirt and pants, and all safety equipment before you start. The guide speaks English or Thai and carries insurance for the ride. Bring your passport (or a copy and a 5,000 THB cash deposit), socks, and cash: card payments are not accepted. If you want a GoPro to record the ride, let the operator know in advance so they can charge the battery. Rental is 1,000 baht with a free 64GB memory card. Damage to the bike is charged to you, so ride within your comfort zone.

After your adventure, transport back to your hotel or a central location is arranged. This is a small-group activity, not a sightseeing tour. You are riding the motorbike yourself through terrain, not watching from a vehicle.
