The experience
You meet your guide at Basel SBB train station and travel by train to Luzern, then switch to a public electric bus for a 10-minute ride to Kriens at the foot of Mount Pilatus. From there, a short walk brings you to the gondola station. The first aerial cableway takes 20 minutes to reach Krienseregg, where you change onto a larger 60-person gondola for the final 6-minute ascent to Pilatus Kulm, the mountain station sitting at 2,118 meters.
At Pilatus Kulm, you have time to explore the viewing terrace, panorama gallery, dragon gallery and multimedia presentation. A restaurant on-site serves local Swiss dishes during your lunch break. After you've spent time at the summit, the gondola carries you back down the same route to Luzern, where you board an electric bus to return to the city center. From there, you can either spend free time in Luzern's old town or board the train back to Basel, a one-hour journey.
The guide speaks English and German throughout the day. All train tickets for the tour are included in the price, so there are no additional transport costs beyond the booking. Small groups keep the experience intimate while still sharing the route with other travelers.
