The experience
You start with a choice: hike first or head straight to Sulphur Springs Park. The 40-minute trail climbs through native plant life and opens onto views across the southern coast toward St. Vincent. It's not steep (moderate fitness is all you need), and the payoff is the sight of the whole region laid out below.
Sulphur Springs Park is the anchor most travelers build around. It's the world's only drive-through volcano, so you can ride into the crater itself. Once there, you can take a guided walk through the geothermal landscape or wade into the warm black mud pools, or do both. Toraille Waterfall sits less than five minutes away, a 50-foot drop into a pool set inside manicured gardens. Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens, on the historic Soufrière Estate, rounds out the day with 310 acres of tropical plants and the Diamond waterfall itself. You arrange the order. The guide handles the route and timing.
Lunch arrives hot from one of Soufriere's recommended restaurants, and cold drinks stay on board: bottled water, local Piton beer and sodas. With a morning start, you're back by early afternoon, leaving time to rest at your resort or catch the sunset with a drink in hand.
