The experience
The boat leaves the dock at Port Castries and heads south along the coast toward Soufriere. You'll snorkel at two marine reserve sites where the reef sits close to shore and the water stays calm. The guide points out what lives there and handles the logistics of entry. Between snorkel stops, the boat anchors at Sugar Beach for swimming or beach time. The whole day runs four to six hours depending on how long you linger at each spot: that flexibility is the point of a private charter.
Two stops on land break up the water time. At Sulphur Springs Park, a five-minute taxi ride from the dock (included and possibly shared with other passengers), you wade into a therapeutic mud bath fed by volcanic heat and then rinse in natural hot pools. Ten minutes away, Toraille Waterfall drops cold water over a rocky ledge where you can stand under it for a massage. Both are short visits, so you're back on the boat by early afternoon. The route passes Marigot Bay, the filming location for several movies, where the anchorage gives you time to take in the view.
Lunch comes aboard: what the operator provides depends on the day, but it's cooked and included. Beverages run to bottled water, beer and soda. You'll need to board the boat from the dock and possibly from the beach, so you should be comfortable stepping in and out of a small vessel. The guide speaks English and stays with the group the whole time. Three boat sizes are available: the 22-footer holds up to four passengers, the 26-footer up to nine, and the 31-footer up to fourteen, so you can choose based on your group size and budget.

Is this one for you?Choose the 22-foot boat if you're traveling as a couple or small family and want the most intimate pace; the 26-footer suits groups of four to nine where you still get personal attention; the 31-footer works for larger groups or when you want to split costs across more people. All three follow the same route and include the same stops, so the choice is really about group size and budget.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the snorkeling like at the marine reserves near Soufriere?
The marine reserves sit close to the shore in calm water, making them accessible for snorkelers of varying experience. The guide leads you to the sites and handles entry. The reef life and fish populations are what draw most visitors to these particular spots rather than others on the island.
How does the mud bath at Sulphur Springs Park work?
Sulphur Springs Park is a natural volcanic site where warm mud fed by underground heat sits in shallow pools. You wade in, coat yourself, and then rinse in the natural hot water pools nearby. The whole stop takes under an hour, and a complimentary shared taxi takes you the five minutes from the dock.
Will I have time to visit both the waterfall and the mud bath in one day?
Yes. Toraille Waterfall is ten minutes from the dock by shared taxi, and Sulphur Springs Park is five minutes away. Both stops fit inside the four to six hour tour window along with snorkeling and beach time, though as a private tour you can adjust how long you spend at each one.
What happens if I'm traveling with a group larger than fourteen people?
The largest available boat holds fourteen passengers. For groups bigger than that, the operator offers personalized quotes, so contact them directly with your group size and they'll arrange a solution.
Does the price include everything, or are there extra charges?
Entrance fees, lunch, snorkeling fees, the local guide, beverages and the complimentary taxi transfers in Soufriere are all included. A fuel surcharge of USD 40 is collected on the day of the tour. Gratuities are separate.
