The safari starts with pickup from your hotel in the Sigiriya or Habarana area and a drive into whichever national park offers the best wildlife viewing that day. Your driver-guide has the local knowledge to track elephant herds. Rather than following a fixed route, the tour adapts to where the animals actually are. You travel by private jeep across grasslands, lakes and forest areas, stopping for photos and wildlife watching as herds move through their habitat.

Minneriya is known for the annual Gathering, when hundreds of elephants congregate around the park's reservoir during the dry season. Kaudulla and Hurulu Eco Park offer similar wildlife viewing with smaller crowds. Bottled water is provided during the drive. The jeep is shared only with your own group, no strangers on the vehicle, and the driver stays with you for the full three hours, adjusting the route based on animal sightings rather than sticking to a set itinerary.
