The experience
You arrive at a home in the mountains of Malaga province for an evening that unfolds around the kitchen and the table instead of a dining room service. Your hosts Marina and Nacho welcome you into their space, and Nacho (who has worked in several Michelin-starred restaurants across Spain) begins cooking the night's menu in front of you. The meal opens with watermelon gazpacho and chorizo flambéed with brandy, moves through a risotto of wild mushrooms and peas, and closes with a chocolate coulant and macadamia nut ice cream. Local wines and beverages flow throughout.
The three hours sit between watching a chef work and sitting down to eat what he makes. You are not in a class learning technique, and you are not in a restaurant where the kitchen is hidden: you are in the room where the cooking happens, close enough to see how the dishes come together. Between courses, Marina and Nacho talk about the region: its food, its history, the landscape visible from the windows. The ambiance is the home itself, not a designed setting.
Public transport reaches the location, so you do not need a car to get there. If you have food allergies or follow a special diet, tell the operator when you book and Nacho will adjust the menu. The experience runs three hours from arrival to the end of dinner.
