Cook Three Korean Dishes in Seoul, Then Eat Them

You meet your guide at Mangwon Metro Station and walk through the neighborhood market, tasting street food and learning which ingredients go into your three dishes. Then you cook them yourself at a private station in a studio, with your own cooker and fresh local ingredients. You eat lunch with rice wine and dessert, take home leftovers and a cookbook, and the whole experience runs about three hours depending on your time slot.

Step-by-step itinerary

Local market tour and cooking class

  • Meet at Mangwon Metro Station entrance 2
  • Explore Mangwon Market and taste street food
  • Discuss menu at cooking studio
  • Cook three authentic Korean dishes
  • Enjoy cooked dishes and take leftovers home

The Experience

Steam rises from a dozen pots at once. Your hands are dusted with flour. Around you, other travelers are laughing at their own attempts to fold dumplings or stir the right way, and the smell of soy sauce and sesame oil fills a bright studio in Seoul's Mangwon neighborhood. You're not watching a chef cook — you're doing it, at your own private station with your own cooker, making sundubu jjigae, bibimbap, and bulgogi from scratch.

The day starts at Mangwon Metro Station, entrance 2, where Jomin meets you before the cooking class. You walk through the market first — not a tourist version, but the actual neighborhood market where locals buy their vegetables and fish. Jomin points out the ingredients you'll use in a few hours, and you stop to taste street food, watch vendors work, and get a real sense of how Korean home cooks actually shop. It's the kind of market tour that doesn't feel separate from the cooking; it's the reason the cooking makes sense. The whole thing takes about three hours total, with the market walk built in at the start.

Back at the studio, you cook three dishes depending on which time slot you book. Morning and afternoon classes (10am Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday or 10am Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) teach sundubu jjigae, bibimbap, and bulgogi. Evening sessions (6pm the opposite days) cover kimchi jjigae, japchae, and stir-fried pork instead. It's hands-on the whole time — you're not sitting and watching. You have your own table, your own cooker, fresh ingredients prepped and ready. A professionally designed cookbook goes home with you so you can actually make these dishes again without guessing.

Once everything is cooked, you eat what you made. Rice wine, water, and a small dessert come with it. Any leftovers you can take home. Vegetarian and vegan options are available if you need them, and the class requires a minimum of four people to run — if it doesn't hit that number, you can reschedule. It's a real cooking class in Seoul, not a demo, and you leave knowing how to make three dishes that actually taste like what you just ate.

What’s included

Your experience includes a guided walk through Mangwon Market with street food tastings, a hands-on cooking class with your own private cooking station and cooker, three fresh local ingredients prepared for cooking, the three dishes you make for lunch, rice wine, water, a small dessert, leftovers to take home, and a professionally designed cookbook. Vegetarian and vegan options are available upon request.

Is this one for you? This works well if you want to learn how to actually cook Korean food rather than just eat it, and you'd rather not navigate the market or figure out recipes on your own — the guide handles the market knowledge and the studio provides everything you need to cook three real dishes and eat them the same day.
