Ziplining Cape Town: 7 cables above Table Mountain Reserve
Seven cables, one canyon, views across the Cape Peninsula
Zipline Cape Town is a guided activity at the Foot of Table Mountain Reserve where you cross seven cables totaling 2.3 kilometers, starting from platforms high in the mountain and descending through the fynbos landscape. The tour takes around 2 hours and includes transport from the meeting point, a live English-speaking guide, harness setup and one bottle of water per person. Arrive 20 minutes early for indemnity forms and harnessing.
The Experience
A 4x4 vehicle picks you up from the meeting point and drives into the mountain. You start at the first of 11 platforms, where the view already opens across Cape Town from high above. The shortest cable runs 270 meters between the peaks; the highest cable stretches 155 meters above the canyon floor. You clip in and move through the fynbos kingdom—the landscape of proteas and fine-leafed shrubs that covers the Cape Peninsula—crossing cables that total one of Africa's longest zipline routes.
Between cables you walk the mountain paths, taking in the scenery and the vantage points the platforms offer. The route descends through a large canyon, so the perspective shifts with each cable. The whole activity runs about 2 hours from the time the tour starts, though you'll need to arrive 20 minutes early to sign the indemnity forms and get harnessed.
The site sits only 15 minutes from the V&A Waterfront and close to Hout Bay harbor, so it fits easily into a Cape Town day. Public transport options are available nearby if you don't have a car.
