ATV riding in Cape Town combines quad biking through the Atlantis Sand Dunes with sandboarding on the same terrain, guided and with all equipment provided. The activity runs two hours and includes a photo stop mid-ride. Children from age 7 are welcome; the guide speaks English. Quad bike and Nature Reserve permits are available separately at checkout.
The Experience
You ride a quad bike into the Atlantis Sand Dunes, a sprawl of powdery slopes and open terrain just outside Cape Town. The bikes are stable and built for this landscape — you control the pace and the line through the dunes while the guide leads the group. Midway through, you stop for photos and a breather, then keep riding to the sandboarding zone.
Once the quads are parked, you take a sandboard down the same dunes you just rode. The slopes are steep enough to move fast but forgiving enough that you stay in control. The whole thing runs two hours from start to finish, and everything you need — helmet, quad bike, sandboard — comes with the booking. The guide is there the whole time, speaking English and keeping the group together.
