Quad Biking Atlantis Dunes Cape Town: Small-Group Sand Riding
Climb towering dunes and cruise open sand with a guide leading the way
Quad bike the Atlantis Dunes near Cape Town on a small-group ride with a live English-speaking guide, full safety briefing and hands-on instruction. No riding experience is required. The activity runs about an hour including a 15–20 minute safety briefing before you mount the bike, then 50 minutes of riding across white sand with dune climbs and open terrain. A guide leads throughout so you follow the route instead of navigating alone, and all equipment—quad bike, helmet and hair net—is provided.
The Experience
The quad bike is waiting for you, and the guide starts with a safety briefing and hands-on instruction before anyone heads out. You'll get a helmet, hair net and the bike itself; no gear to bring or rent separately. The briefing takes 15 to 20 minutes because the operator treats safety first—you learn the controls, the terrain rules and what to expect before the engine starts.
Once you're riding, the Atlantis Dunes open up: white sand, no roads, no traffic, just the throttle and the slope ahead of you. You'll climb the towering dunes at pace, cruise across the endless open sand, and feel the off-road freedom the terrain gives you. A guide leads the way throughout, so you're not studying a map or second-guessing the route—you follow and ride. The small-group format means you're not in a convoy; it's intimate enough that the guide can watch and adjust.
The ride itself runs about 50 minutes of active riding time. You'll stop at scenic viewpoints where the white dunes and natural landscape give you a moment to breathe and take photos—bring your camera or phone because the operator doesn't provide one, but the views are the kind people want to capture. After the ride, bring food and drinks for yourself if you want to refuel; nothing is included after you dismount.
