The experience
You arrive at Yeira's home in a quiet San Juan neighborhood and start with a tropical passionfruit cocktail. Then you move into her kitchen for a hands-on two-hour cooking lesson where you learn to make dishes like pollo en salsa criolla (Caribbean-style chicken stew), churrasco with chimichurri, arroz con gandules (rice with green pigeon peas), mofongo, and a dessert. Yeira teaches you the techniques and the stories behind each dish. She holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and believes cooking brings people together. The menu shifts with the season and what's available, and she adjusts for any dietary needs you mention at booking.
After cooking, you move to Yeira's outdoor terrace and eat everything you've made, along with a fresh salad and an appetizer she may have prepared in advance. This is not a cooking demonstration you watch. You're working in the kitchen the whole time, learning the real recipes her family uses at home. When you leave, you take two Puerto Rican eBooks with you, along with the knowledge of how to make these dishes yourself.
