The tour starts at Sintra train station and heads straight to Pena Palace Park, where you walk the terraces and grounds to see the palace's details and the landscape around it. Time in the old town follows: enough to lunch, buy souvenirs, taste the local Queijadas and Travesseiros pastries, and stand outside the National Palace to photograph the town's views. From there the route climbs through the Colares wine region, passing cork trees and natural parks, before reaching Cabo da Roca. At 140 meters above the Atlantic, this westernmost point of continental Europe offers the kind of cliff views that anchor themselves in memory.

The descent to the coast is the shift: a scenic drive along the coastal road takes in Guincho Beach and Boca do Inferno (the rock formations where waves crash into the cliffs) before arriving in Cascais. Once a royal summer resort since the late 19th century, it now offers time to walk the bay, take photographs, or head straight to the train station. Your guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese and weaves in historical and local detail throughout the day. The whole arc (mountains, vineyards, ocean cliffs, coastal towns) covers seven hours.
