The experience
The route starts in Muscat and heads inland through Fanja, a village that sits above its own wadi with views across the surrounding landscape. From there the tour moves into Wahiba Sands, the desert's main draw: a region of great golden sands that is also home to Bedouin communities. A stop at a traditional Bedouin house gives you the chance to step inside, drink Omani coffee and eat dates, and browse handmade goods. Camel riding is available here, and there's time to stand in the sands and photograph the expanse around you.
The second half of the day shifts to water. Wadi Bani Khalid is one of Oman's most photographed wadis, known for a series of emerald-green pools fed by mountain springs. The drive there passes through valleys and mountain scenery. Once you arrive, the pools are open for swimming and diving. The water is cool and clear, and the wadi is built for lingering. Lunch is included during the day, and you'll have bottled water throughout. The guide speaks English or Arabic and is trained to navigate both the desert and the cultural stops with knowledge of the region.
The vehicle is air-conditioned and seats your group alone: no other travelers sharing the route. Hotel pickup and drop-off in the Muscat area are part of the booking, so there's no separate transport to arrange. Eight hours total means you leave early and return by late afternoon, leaving the evening free.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Arabic.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 12 years); Infant (under 4).

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is there to do at a traditional Bedouin house in Wahiba Sands?
A traditional Bedouin house is a stop where you're welcomed with free Omani coffee and dates, can explore handmade items made by the family, and have the option to ride a camel across the nearby sands.
Can I swim in Wadi Bani Khalid, or is it just for looking at?
Wadi Bani Khalid's emerald-green pools are open for swimming and diving. The water is fed by mountain springs and is ideal for cooling off and spending time in the wadi itself, not just viewing it from the edge.
How does pickup work if I'm staying in a Muscat hotel?
Your hotel in the Muscat area is the pickup point. The driver collects you in the morning and returns you there at the end of the day, so you don't arrange separate transport to the desert.
What's included in the lunch during the tour?
Lunch is included as part of the tour price. The operator can accommodate special dietary requirements if you note them when booking.
Is camel riding included, or do I pay extra for it?
Camel riding is available at the Bedouin house stop but is not included in the tour price. You pay separately if you choose to ride.
