Wadi Bani Khalid is the kind of place that stops conversation. The return to Muscat takes about 2 hours from Wahiba Sands. Bring sun protection, a hat, good walking shoes, swimwear and a towel, and water. The guide speaks English, the vehicle is a comfortable 4WD, and pickup happens from your hotel or anywhere in the Muscat area. If you're thinking about dune bashing—the aggressive kind where the driver really works the sand—that's not part of this tour; you'd book that separately with the camp's own vehicles.
