The experience

The tour starts at 4:00 AM with pickup from your Muscat area hotel. You drive toward Wahiba Sands to arrive as the sun breaks over the dunes, turning the sand orange and gold. After watching the sunrise, you spend time at a traditional Bedouin house where you can try Omani coffee and take a camel ride across the dunes. The camel ride is an optional add-on at USD 8 per person. You'll have plenty of time for photos before heading to the next stop.

The second half of the day is spent at Wadi Bani Khalid, a canyon carved through the mountains with steep walls and pools of clear freshwater. You can swim in the cool water, sunbathe on the rocks, or walk deeper into the wadi to explore its hidden caves. The canyon itself is the draw: the scale and the light make it worth the time spent there, whether you're in the water or just looking.

Your guide speaks English throughout the day and handles all the driving in a 4x4 vehicle suited to the desert terrain. Water is provided. The tour ends with a return to your Muscat hotel, completing the 8-hour experience.
